Rudolph M. Pendleton

Our beloved Rudolph M. "Sonny" Pendleton, 72, of Alexandria, and a native of Fredericksburg, departed this life on Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at his residence.

He will be especially remembered for his outstanding halftime performances as the drum major for Walker- Grant High School in Fredericksburg.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Armstead; and sister Laverne Boley. He leaves to mourn his passing his stepfather, Hiter Armstead of Fredericksburg; two brothers, Curtis Pendleton (Barbara) of Tappahannock and Melvin Pendleton (Ernestine) of Spotsylvania County; four sisters, Patricia Edwards of Richmond, Geraldine Pitchford of Baltimore, Angelia Boley of Fredericksburg and Denise Lomax (Paul) of Fredericksburg.

The family will receive friends and family at a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at A.L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home, 200 Butternut Drive, Fredericksburg, Va. 22408. The funeral will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Cunningham officiating.
