T he A.L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home, Inc. is the result of the childhood dream of Anthony L. Bennett, Sr. His ambition was inspired by his observations of the ceremony and professionalism of the morticians  in his community as they served families in their time of need.

The A. L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home, Inc. was established on August 15, 1977, as Bennett's Funeral Home at 515 Princess Anne Street, Fredericksburg, Virginia. It was purchased from the family of the late Arthur Brown, the founder and owner of Brown's Funeral Home. The name was changed to A.L. Bennett Funeral Home in 1978 to prevent confusion with a funeral home with the same name. Anthony L. Bennett,Jr. joined the funeral home in 2002. The A.L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home, Inc. was officially incorporated in 2006. 

The new facility at 200 Butternut Drive was dedicated on August 4, 2007.
